General Advice on Transport of Specimens

All specimens must be prepared for transportation in such a way that they will not be a hazard to the sender, the carrier or the receiver.
Lids of sample pots and colection devices must be closed properly and securely to prevent any leakage or contamination of the sample.

  • Specimens should be placed in the sealable pocket of the transport bag as soon as it has been labelled, and the pocket sealed.
  • Request forms relating to the sample must be placed in the marsupial pouch of the bag plastic transport bag - do NOT place request forms inside the pocket with the sample to prevent any contamination of the form.

 
The bag must not be sealed with pins, staples or anything else sharp

  • Specimen bags must not be used more than once.
  • All specimens must be received in approved containers
