    Changes to Clinical Biochemistry service

From Monday 28th October the Clinical Biochemistry service will be implementing the following changes:

Tests centralised to Peterborough City Hospital site

The following tests will be processed only at the Peterborough City Hospital site (and as such no longer processed at the Hinchingbrooke Hospital site):

    •Vitamin D

    •Parathyroid Hormone (PTH)

    •Cancer antigen 125 (CA125)

    •Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA)

    •Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA)

The samples will be transferred from the Hinchingbooke Hospital site to Peterborough City Hospital for analysis. There are no changes to sample requirements as part of this change (i.e. no additional samples are required), and results will continue to be available via ICE Order Comms on the same day as sample collection.

    Anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody testing

From 28th October the two Anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody tests (Anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies, initially used for surveillance, and Anti-SARS-CoV-2 ‘S’ antibodies, originally used for the triage of patients for monoclonal antibody treatment) will no longer be offered from the laboratory at Peterborough City Hospital and will no longer be available for requesting via ICE Order Comms. Analysis of  Anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody tests at another centre can be arranged where clinically indicated.

For further information on either of these changes, please contact the Clinical Biochemistry department (peh-tr.chemimm@nhs.net).
