LH concentration is used in the assessment of dysfunctions within the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonads system. The determination of LH in conjunction with FSH is utilised for the following indications: congenital diseases with chromosome aberrations (e.g. Turners syndrome), polycystic ovaries (PCO), clarifying the causes of amenorrhea, menopausal syndrome, and suspected Leydig cell insufficiency.
No known common methodological interferences.

Male (adult): 1.7-8.6  U/L

Female (adult):

Follicular phase: 2.4 - 12.6 U/L

Ovulation phase: 14.0 - 95.6 U/L

Luteal phase: 1.0 - 11.4 U/L

Postmenopausal: 7.7 - 58.5 U/L
